My favourite thing:
My Good News Bible
At my school, when you were in grade 4, there was a special day that was celebrated where we received out Good News Bibles. For my class, that date was September 20th, 1993.
While I always knew I had this Bible, I really didn't use it much after I was done my religion classes in high school. I was at my childhood home about a year ago, looking for something (what I can't recall, but I know I didn't find it), when I stumbled across this Bible. This is a pocket Bible making it easy to carry with you and I actually spent a good part of the past year with this Bible in my purse.
I picked up the Bible and started flipping through it.
The fourth to last page was originally a blank page but on February 14th, 1994 aka my 10th birthday, my parish priest wrote an inscription:
May this book come alive through your heart and mind
and may it be always be in front of you as you take big steps in your life.
-Father Lorenzo
In reading the inscription, I am reminded in how loved and blessed I have been over my life. I am reminded of all the times my faith has gotten me through times of trial and tribulation. I am reminded of my Church community who has supported me. I am reminded of Father Lorenzo, who baptized me, who I can always turn to...even though he now lives in Europe.
Happy Easter.
