Anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVE hockey! I'm a HUGE New York Rangers fan and with the NHL being locked out, I'm definitely going through withdrawal.
Back in the day, my old university roommate and I used to meet in Hamilton and watch the Toronto Marlies and Hamilton Bulldogs play. Last weekend, we decided to go 'old school' and relive this tradition.
We met at Ikea in Burlington, headed to McDonald's for a pre-game snack before driving into Hamilton together. Even though we were in Hamilton, we were cheering for the Marlies. It was a great game, despite the Marlies loss- quick paced game, lots of action. It was really nice to be in an arena again.
After the game, true to tradition, we headed back to Burlington for dinner. This was an adventure and full of laughs. We literally drove around in circles, following a GPS, trying to find somewhere to eat. We also ended up on a creepy, dead end, no lights street. The ex-roomie did give me a grand tour of Burlington ("there's the skyway that you'll be driving over to get home" "there's a creepy house with a spotlight" "here's Burlington St"), pointing things out as we drove past.
We eventually, by chance, saw a Kelsey's. Let's just say, we were lucky it was late at night and not many cars were around...We may have made a right hand turn from a left hand lane... Anyway, Kelsey's. There were a couple of people in the dinning room, but not crazy busy. I had the most delicious sandwich- California Clubhouse (chicken, red pepper hummus, guacamole, bacon, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese). Soooo good! After dinner (around 12:30am), we headed back to Ikea, where I picked up my car and we parted ways.
It was so great to see her and spend time with her. The entire night contained classic moments in our friendship (ex getting lost) and was nothing but laughter. Plus it was super fun to watch a hockey game again!
